2016 Federation Research Symposium

The 2015 symposium was held on April 10, 2015 in Denton at Texas Women's University in Hubbard Hall.

The symposium was open to graduate students in all disciplines from Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M University-Commerce and the University of North Texas and featured an increase in monetary awards. As a result, 83 students representing 38 disciplines presented a total of 73 posters at the symposium.  Poster presentation winners are as follows:

Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Business

  • 1st Place - Jamie Jones; Rhetoric; Texas Woman's University
  • 2nd Place - Leah LaGrone Ochoa; History; Texas A&M University-Commerce
  • 3rd Place - Benjamin Graf; Music Theory; University of North Texas

Math, Science and Technology category

  • 1st Place - Megan Miller; Biology; Texas A&M University-Commerce
  • 2nd Place (tie) - Aditya Ayyagari & Seth Garrison AND Vedavyas Tungala & Aniket K. Dutt; Material Science & Engineering; University of North Texas
  • 3rd Place - Simbarashe Mazambani; Biology; Texas A&M University-Commerce

This year, three A&M-Commerce graduate students won prizes in their categories. Leah LaGrone Ochoa won second place in the Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Business category for history, Megan Miller won first place in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math category for biology and Simbarashe Mazambani won third place in the STEM category for biology.
